Digital
Printing Services
& Jigsaw Puzzles
Send us your Digital
Image on a CD-ROM. (With
a color proof)
As long as your image is a high resolution .TIFF or .JPG file,
I can easily use your digital image files to print a fabulous
image to be used for creating your custom wooden jigsaw puzzle.
I do ALL printing using Photoshop 7.0.
Images for these large
format puzzles generally can NOT be e-mailed to us, as their
file sizes significantly exceed the 8.0 MB limit that we can
receive through our e-mail server. If you are familiar with FTP,
you can either email me access to your oversized file on YOUR
FTP server.
Please ship CDs files to
me via FedEx, UPS or AirBorne so that the shipment gets here
quick, and it is trackable. Please
use a Sharpie Marker, and write the Following directly on the
top surface of your CD. (Your Name, Phone, Company Name, and
e-mail address.)
If you must use a post
office for your convenience, please use priority mail, and request
a Tracking Bar be applied. The post office charges 50¢
for this tracking option. WAIVE Signature Request!
FTP image Transfer! - Thanks to broadband capabilities,
you CAN place your image files on YOUR OWN FTP Server, or your
own web site, and e-mail me the individual image address. I will
be happy to download the files right from your company's server
/ web site.

Technical Requirements for .TIFF and .JPG images: Use
a 150 DPI - 200dpi
minimum resolution ( 300dpi recommended resolution) on the finished
image size, with true optical (Uninterpolated) resolution. RGB Format
is preferred... not CMYK. DO NOT use a DPI that is higher than
300dpi, as it will not make a visible difference in your image
print quality, and it will cause your image file to be unnecessarily
large.
I also accept .PDF and
.PSD files. Especially nice are Vecrtor based image graphics
that can be rasterized to a larger dimension, with ZERO loss
of image quality.
Your image file should
be designed or scanned so that it is at it's ACTUAL puzzle size
when printed at 100%. (If for example you are ordering a 20"
x 30" puzzle, the image on the CD you send me should print
at that size when printed at 100%.)
Do not send in high resolution
smaller size image files and expect it to look great when it
is stretched up to a much larger full size. Example: if you send
me an 8" x 10" digital file, but order a 16" x
20" puzzle, the picture "will" look grainy after
it is stretched up to the 16" x 20" size) I also call
this the "Silly Puddy Syndrome" When you press Silly
Puddy against a comic strip, then stretch the Puddy. Doing this
distorts the original print quality of the comic strip. The same
thing will happen to your undersized digital image files.
You CAN send me image files
that are larger than the actual size puzzle you are ordering.
Shrinking an image does not hurt the quality at all, and in some
cases it helps make the picture sharper!
When shipping me a CD,
be sure to write your full name, company name, plus your daytime
and evening phone numbers, on the physical CD (Not the CD Case, or an enclosed business card)
with an Sharpie indelible marker so that I can easily identify
your CD with your order when it arrives, and when I am
looking for it to print your puzzle image.
I do all of our in-house
printing using Photoshop 7.0 software. I do NOT accept Power
Point files, MS Word files, Quark, Illustrator, Paint files or
other low file size images taken from internet web pages. If
you are using these formats, you must first convert them into
either a .tiff or .jpg file for me to properly use them in Photoshop.
If you have concerns that
your image file is physically too small to create an oversized
puzzle, then I suggest that you contact your local, or in house,
graphic designer to recreate the image so that it meets the above
printing requirements. If you can not locate a graphic designer
near you, I have a graphic designer local to me that I can refer
you to. Call me for the contact information. (1-860-873-3093)

This is the absolute
largest size FULLY INTERLOCKING puzzle that I can make. This
size is made by special request only. Because of the physical
strain of making this puzzle size, they do come at a bit of a
premium price. I recommend that most people stay with 36"
x 48" as my standard largest size.

Maximum size for Fully Interlocking puzzles = 36"x48"
Maximum size for Partially
Interlocking Puzzles
= 96" x 108". (See below) A partially interlocking
puzzle is defined as follows.
A puzzle that exceeds 42" x 58" in size will be cross
cut into sections (Quadrants). The number of sections can range
from as few as 2 to as many as 4 depending on the needs for your
specific puzzle order. Each of these sections will NOT interlock
with the adjacent section. The sections will simply push against
each other, however the puzzle pieces contained within each of
the individual puzzle sections WILL fully interlock with each
other.
