Q. Why are your puzzles more expensive than the actual pieces of limited edition art? A. They are more expensive because I actually make my "Hand Cut" Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles using Jane's REAL hand signed and numbered limited edition art prints. I will permanently bond an actual art print to my very special puzzle wood, and then hand cut it into many hundreds of tiny intricate wooden puzzle pieces. These special personalized wooden puzzles are highly sought out by collectors, and will remain in the family for many generations. Personalized Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles are often included in individual's "last will and testament", stating who is to inherit them. My puzzles are NOT like the typical cardboard puzzles you see at the local toy store. I will venture to say that you will be very hard pressed to find puzzles like mine in ANY store at all! Each of my puzzles is custom cut to order, and is a unique one of a kind family keepsake. Traditionally, Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles cost between 100 times to 200 times the price of a cardboard puzzle... and in some cases even more than that. When was the last time you saw one of these RARE puzzles in your local store? Probably never... unless you were in a high end antique shop.
Q: Why do you sometimes refer to Jane's art as a "Graphic"? A: "Graphic" is the proper term for a limited edition fine piece of art. It is a nicer way of saying "print".

Q: Why are Serigraphs more expensive than Lithographs? A: Because there is an entirely different process used in making each type of image. A lithograph is a very high quality machine printed image made by using a 4 color separation process much like they how the covers of any color magazine is printed. A Serigraph is a silk screened image. With a Serigraph the original oil painting is scanned and separated digitally into EACH and EVERY color found in the original. A separate silk screen is created for EACH and EVERY color that was scanned. There are usually from 80 to 130 individual colors in the majority of Jane's Serigraphs. Each silk screen is precisely placed over the Serigraph paper, and then by hand squeegee, paint for a specific color is applied. This single application of one paint color must then dry for at least 24 to 48 hours before the next color paint can be applied. It can take a Serographer up to 6 months to produce 1 run of as many as 500 Serigraphs of the same image. It is truly amazing how much work goes into making them, isn't it? Serigraphs are also produced in much smaller numbers than Lithographs, and they are as costly to produce, and as close to the actual original painting as you can possibly get. There is a very noticeable difference in the high quality of a Serigraph (technically original art) when compared to a Lithograph (reproduction). This is not to say Lithographs don't look very nice. They are quite wonderful to look at and enjoy, but they just can not compare to the brilliant appearance of a Serigraph.

Q: Will you sell ONLY the hand signed and numbered art print without having them cut into Puzzles? A: Sure I will! I either have or can acquire just about any of Jane's limited edition prints that are available on the open market or secondary art market. Images that were released many years ago typically are found only on the secondary art market, which means that they are ALL in the hands of private collectors of Jane's work, and possibly a few fine art gallery's inventory around the nation. Any of Jane's rarer images are attainable... but only with a little added effort. In some cases the prices might be higher than the listed price here on my website, thus the "+" designation is placed next to the print price in some of the listings
Q: Why does
the art print I own say 247/1,375 on it, and yet your web site
says there were 1,525 in the edition. A: "NO, you do not have a fraud. You have a regular edition print. When one of Jane's images is produced there is the Regular Edition and the Artist Proof Edition. When you add these two editions together, you get the TOTAL edition size. The TOTAL EDITION SIZE is the number I list on the gallery pages. In the case of some prints, there are also Roman Numeral Editions, European Editions, and Japanese Editions. When they are ALL added together you reach the listed TOTAL Edition size. NO, there is NO difference in the quality or the value of when comparing one edition to another. In some cases, art collectors value the AP (Artist Proof edition) as being the most desirable, and thus more valuable. Artist proofs typically represent about 10% of the total edition size. |
Q: Are any of Jane's images available in BOTH Serigraph and Lithograph formats? A: NO. Each of Jane's Printed images are produced as either a Lithograph OR a Serigraph. The same image has never, and will never be produced in both forms. Additionally, they will NOT be produced in a larger or smaller size, regardless of format. If you own Jane's Art book "An American Jubilee" or have seen Jane's work in decorative wall calendars and note cards, you might see several images there that you just MUST have! Sorry, but not all of Jane's work has been produced into limited edition hand signed and numbered pieces of art. Some are still ONLY available as the actual original oil painting. If you really MUST have, a currently "unavailable" image, in the form of a graphic for your home, write to her, and tell her your feelings. Jane is very receptive to such correspondences. Who knows, your comments might have some influence as to whether that piece is ever produced some day. |
Q: How are these valuable art images I purchase shipped to me? A: I ship your art in VERY strong shipping tubes, well protected from crushing or bending. If you ever receive an image that was damaged, simply send it back to me, and I will send you a complimentary replacement of the same image right away! Unless you request otherwise, all shipments are sent using Federal Express. I fully insure ALL shipments! I do NOT ship any art or puzzle orders via Ground Service, or Standard US Mail, as the images spend too much time in transit, thus increasing the odds that they will sustain damage while on their way to you.

Q: What is a Remarque? A: A Remarque is when Jane adds a small "original painting" in the margin of a Limited Edition Print. It usually captures a central focus point of the painting. This Original Remarque is desirable by many collectors. There are only a few Remarque edition prints done for each edition. The most serious art collectors seek out Remarques and Serigraphs when ever possible. Remarques are generally done on Serigraphs, but by special request, they can be done on lithographs as well. I have EXPANDED information on this topic... Click Here to read it.

Q: Why are the sizes for the images in your galleries listed as estimates? The sizes are estimates, because it is easier to state and maintain a web site where just WHOLE inches are referenced. All sizes have been rounded to the nearest WHOLE inch. No dimension has a variance of more than one half of one inch either larger or smaller directions. Additionally, I have added 1" to the height dimension stated in the galleries because when I make my puzzles, I also include the 1" white strip at the bottom of the picture to capture the print number and Jane's original signature as part of the actual jigsaw puzzle. If you are just wanting the art print, deduct this 1" from the height, for a more accurate image size. |
Q: Do you sell or make CARDBOARD jigsaw puzzles using Jane's images? A: No, I do not. My sole focus is on Wooden Jigsaw Puzzles. Sorry. To buy Jane's Cardboard puzzles,

Q: Do you offer custom framing services? A: Yes, But I strongly recommend that you have your local professional framer handle this. Color coordinating is much easier when you can take your local framer swatches of your furniture, wallpaper and curtains. Handling all of this color coordinating over the telephone and getting it just right is a much harder task to perform. Additionally, shipping heavy framed prints is more costly, and introduces a higher chance that the image or the frame can become damaged while in transit.
